Shabana is a legendary actress in the Bangladeshi industry who dominated the field in the 80s and 90s by her terrific acting performance. She made successful pairs with Razzak and Alamgir. Her full name is Afroza Sultana Ratna but best known around the country by the screen name Shabana.
Shabana is considering one of the most successful actresses in the history of the Bangladesh showbiz industry. She appeared in more than 300 movies during her long career period. The talented actress won the National Film Award ten times.
Shabana Early Life:
Shabana was born on June 15, 1952, in Raujan, Chittagong, East Bengal (now Bangladesh) to Fayez Chowdhury and Fazilatunnesa. Her father Fayez Chowdhury was a typist and her mother Fazilatunnesa a housewife. Shabana was not interested about study only at nine years old and quit the lesson. In early childhood, she used to pass most of the time with an aunt.
Shabana Career:
Shabana kicked off her journey in the film industry with the movie ‘Notun Sur’ in 1961 as a child actress. She made her debut as a heroine with the movie ‘Chakori’ in 1967 an Urdu language movie with co-actor Nadeem. Then she appeared in the blockbuster movie ‘Anari’ in 1969. In 1972, she made a terrific acting performance in the movie ‘Ora Egaro Jon’ with Razzak the story based on Bangladesh Liberation War directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam.
Shabana made a historical acting performance in the movie ‘Chhutir Ghonta’ with Razzak in 1980. Then she starred in the box office hit movie ‘Rajnigandha’. In 1984, she made a remarkable acting performance in the movie ‘Bhat De’ with co-actor Alamgir directed by Amjad Hossain.
In 1986, Shabana starred in the Hindi language movie ‘Shatru’ with Rajesh Khanna. She made wonderful acting performances in the two movies ‘Ranga Bhabi’ and ‘Satya Mithya’ with Alamgir as well as got positive acclamation from the critics and audience for her wonderful acting performance.
Then she appeared in lots of blockbuster movies including ‘Konna Dan’, ‘Banglar Nayok’ ‘Shotter Mrittu Nei’, ‘Swami Keno Asami’ and ‘Meyerao Manush’. In 1998, she left the acting career and relocated to the United States with her family.
Personal Life:
Shabana tied a knot with film producer Wahid Sadik in 1973. The couple has two daughters and a son.
