Surendra Kumar Sinha is the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh and currently, holds the office. Sinha also head of the whole judicial establishments of Bangladesh. He is also known as SK Sinha. He is mostly criticized around the country especially from ruling party Awami League, after giving the full verdict on the 16th amendment of the Constitution on August 2017. On January 31, he will retire from the post. He is the first chief justice of Bangladesh who is Non-Muslim and comes from a minor ethnic group.
Surendra Kumar Sinha Early Life:
Surendra Kumar Sinha was born on February 01, 1951, in a Bisnupriya Manipuri family in Moulvibazar, Sylhet to parents Lalit Mohan Sinha and Dhanabati Sinha. He was born in the Tilakpur village, Kamalganj the village far away from the development but there was the touch of education from long ago. The village has own identity as ‘Vidyasagar’ being illuminated by the light of education. Sinha was so much talented student from early childhood.
He started schooling at Ranibazar Government Primary School. After completing primary education he admitted into Kamalganj Bahumukhi High School. In 1966, he passed SCC. Then he moved to Sylhet left the village and admitted into Madan Mohan College as well as completed HSC in 1968. He completed the bachelor degree in Law from the University of Chittagong in 1974.
Surendra Kumar Sinha Career:
Surendra Kumar Sinha kicked off his career journey as an advocate in the Sylhet Judge Court on December 19, 1974. He was in Sylhet until 1978. He moved to Dhaka when he enlisted as an advocate of High Court in 1978. In 1990, he was widely known as a lawyer of Appellate Division. On October 24, 1999, he joined as a Judge of the High Court. Ten years later on July 16, 2009, he appointed as a Judge of the Appellate Division.
SK Sinha’s long time cherished dream turned to true when appointed as the 21st chief justice of Bangladesh on January 17, 2015. He was a member of Appellate Division which removed caretaker government system canceling thirteen amendment of the Constitution. Sinha was also a powerful member of the Bench which gave final verdict of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case in 2011. In recent Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina slams enough him for comparing Bangladesh to Pakistan.

SK Sinha married to Sushma Sinha on July 1978, the couple has two daughters named Sucana Sinha and Asha Sinha.
