Saima Wazed Hossain is a Bangladeshi autism activist who is also known by her nickname Putul. She is the daughter of Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The Prime Minister’s daughter is a member of the World Health Organization.
Who will hold the position after Sheikh Hasina’s retirement? Her son or daughter! It is not sure yet, but it seems Saima Wazed would be a perfect lady to fulfill Hasina’s emptiness instead of Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Saima Wazed Putul was born on December 9, 1972, in Dhaka, Bangladesh to parents Dr. M A Wazed Miah and Sheikh Hasina. Her father was a Bangladeshi physicist and former Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. Her mother is the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has an elder brother Sajeeb Wazed Joy, an ICT expert.
Saima Wazed is the chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism and Neurodevelopmental disorders. She dreamed of doing something out of the box and started working with Autism.
In 2017, she was awarded International Champion Award for her contribution to autism. Then she won an award from Barry University for her activism.
She was appointed as an honorary teacher at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 2022.
Saima Wazed married Khandakar Masrur Hossain Mitu, the son of Bangladeshi politician and former Local Government and Rural Development and Cooperative minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. Together the couple has four children. It is rumored they got divorced but it is not officially declared yet.
