Gotabaya Rajapaksa

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is a famous Sri Lankan politician, former military officer and current President of Sri Lanka. His elder brother Mahinda Rajapaksa also served as the President of Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2015. Gotabhaya served as Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development in his elder brother’s government. He is widely notable for his contribution to defeat Tamil Tigers and ending the Sri Lankan Civil War.

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was born on June 20, 1949, in Palatuwa in the Matara District, Sri Lanka to a politics-oriented family. He did his primary and secondary education at Ananda College, Colombo. Then he completed postgraduation from the University of Colombo in Information Technology in 1992.
