Shah Ahmad Shafi (1916 – 18 September 2020) was a famous Bangladeshi Islamic scholar who is widely known as Allama Shafi across the country. He comes to the timeline when he established Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh to protest Gonojagoron Moncho in 2010. Now, he is the chairman of Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasah Education Board and rector of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Hathazari.
Early Life & Education
Shah Ahmad Shafi was born in 1916, in a Muslim family and received basic education from family. He studied at Al-Jamiatul Arabiatul Islamiah. Then he joined Hathazari Madrasah in 1926. Also, he went to India for higher education at the Islamic university Darul Uloom Deoband.
Career
Allama Shafi started a career as a teacher at Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Hathazari, just after returning from India completing education. Bangladesh government build up a Madrasha board titled Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasah Education Board making him chairman of the board.
On April 13, 2020, a rumor spread out on social media that he passed away. Later, the authority confirmed, he is still alive and in a good physical condition than prior. Finally, he passed away on September 18, 2020, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
