William Blake Early Life:
William Blake was born on November 28, 1757, in London, England to James and Catherine Wright Armitage Blake. His father was a hosier and his mother was a housewife. Blake took primary education at his home from his mother.
He was interested in drawing in his early childhood and would draw pictures frequently. He was enrolled at a drawing school when he was ten years old.
William Blake Career:
Considered mad by contemporaries for his individual views, Blake is held in high regard by later critics for his eloquence and creativity, and for the rational and spiritual undercurrents within his work. His paintings and poetry have been characterized as part of both the Romantic Movement and “Pre-Romantic”, for their large appearance in the 18th century.
Blake was influenced by the ideals and ambitions of the French and American revolutions, as well as by such thinkers as Jakob Böhme and Emanuel Swedenborg. Despite these known influences, the singularity of Blake’s work makes him difficult to classify.
However, William Blake was born on 28 November 1757 at 28 Broad Street in the Soho district of London to father James a hosier, and mother Catherine Wright Armitage Blake.

In 1781, jilted by certain Polly Wood, he fell in love with Catherine Boucher: reaching an understanding almost at once, he married her the following year.
