Saumya Tandon was born on November 3, 1984, in Bhopal, India to a famous writer Dr. B. G. Tandon who was a professor of the Department of English at Vikram University and was an authority on Shakespearean literature. He wrote about 17 books on different branches of English literature. Saumya did her schooling from St. Mary’s Convent School in Ujjain and MBA from the Fore School of Management.

Saumya Tandon started her career in the showbiz industry as a model, and then shifted to the acting field. She made her acting debut with the drama serial ‘Aisa Des Hai Mera’ playing the lead role of Rusty Deol in 2006.
After became successful in the first serial, Saumya Tandon started hosting in various television shows. She appeared as a host in ‘Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout’ with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan in 2011. Then, she hosted many popular shows like ‘Dance India Dance’ also with Shah Rukh Khan, ‘Bournvita Quiz Contest’ along with Derek O’Brien. Next, she also hosted three seasons of ‘Mallika-E-Kitchen’ on Colors.
Saumya successfully hosted the twelfth edition of comedy circus named ‘Comedy Circus Ke Taansen’ and ‘Mallika-E-Kitchen’. As a host, she became much popular after she hosts the famous show ‘Dance India Dance’ with Shah Rukh Khan in 2009-2011. Saumya was awarded as the Best Anchor on Indian television for 2010.
The intelligent actress kicked off her film career in Imtiaz Ali’s movie ‘Jab We Met’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in 2007 where she played the role of Roop. She also featured in a short film named ‘English’. She is recently being seen in a comedy serial ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain’ in which she already got huge popularity.
