Preetika Rao was born on May 29, 1988, in Karnataka, India to Deepak Rao who owns an advertising company in Mumbai. She is the sister of Bollywood actress Amrita Rao. Preetika has graduated in History from Sophia College, Mumbai, and simultaneously did diploma courses in Advertising and Journalism. She has also interested in palmistry as well as astrology.

Preetika Rao started her career as a model with an advertisement for ‘Cadbury Dairy Milk’ with the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan when she was in college. Then she moved on to have a successful modeling career with ‘Forty plus TVC’ and print campaigns to her credit. After her career in modeling, Preetika went to do film journalism for South Side, Mumbai Mirror, Chennai Times, Indian Forums, and The Asian Age.
