Gul Panag was born on January 3, 1979, Chandigarh, India to H. S. Panag who is a retired army officer. She had to shift in different places across India as well as abroad for her father’s job. As a result, she studied 14 schools. Gul completed her bachelor degree in Mathematics from Punjabi University, Patiala. The actress received her Master’s degree in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh. As a student, Gul was very active in sports as well as public speaking and won numerous national level debate competitions.

Gul Panag started her career as a model winning the ‘Miss India’ title in 1999. She also crowned as ‘Miss Beautiful Smile’ at the same pageant. The supermodel took part in the ‘Miss Universe’ beauty pageant in 1999. Then she did several commercial advertisements for television as well as print media and became the brand ambassador of Tata Sky with Aamir Khan.
Gul Panag made her film debut with Bollywood war drama film ‘Dhoop’ directed by Ashwini Chaudhary in 2003 where she played the role Peehu A. Verma with Om Puri, Revathi, and Sanjay Suri. Then she appeared in thriller movie ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’ in 2007. In the film, she played a challenging role along with Abhay Deol and Raima Sen where her performance received positive responses from the audiences as well as cinema critics.
