Shashi Kapoor was born on March 18, 1938, in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Kapoor. He came from filmy background family where most of the family members are associated with the showbiz arena.

His two brothers Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor both are an actor. Notable celebrity of the Bollywood Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor comes from the family. Shashi studied at Don Bosco High School in Mumbai. He started acting as a child actor when he was only 4 years old.

Shashi Kapoor kicked off the journey in the showbiz arena with the movie ‘Aag’ in 1948 as a child actress. He made his acting debut for playing an adult role in the movie ‘Dharamputra’ in 1961.  Following the year, Shashi appeared in the English movie ‘The Householder’. In 1978, he landed career breakout role in the movie ‘Junoon’ and raised visibility in the eyes of the audience which movie also directed by him. The movie conveys National Film Award for the actor.

Personal Life:

Shashi Kapoor married English actress Jennifer Kendal in July 1958 whom met in Calcutta in 1956 during working in the theater group. In 1984, Kendal died of cancer. The couple together had three children named Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. The legendary actor died of chronic illness on December 4, 2017, in Versova, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
