Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer who is well-known for his aggressive batting style. He is the owner of the record for the fastest one-day century which he made in his debut innings and the second-highest scoring 32 runs in a single over in an ODI. On 2 October 1996, he made his debut in ODI cricket against Kenya and his Test debut on 22 October 1998 against Australia.
Shahid Afridi Career:
At the age of sixteen In October 1996, Afridi was called for the ODI four-nation Sameer Cup 1996-97 as a replacement for injured Mushtaq Ahmed but he made his debut on 2 October against Kenya. Afridi didn’t get a chance to bat in his debut match but in the second match against Sri Lanka, he batted at number three and broke the record for the fastest century in ODI cricket history, reaching his hundred from 37 balls. Afridi turned into the youngest player to score an ODI century at the age of 16.
After two years while he played 66 ODIs, he made a test debut against Australia in October 1998. In his second test during Pakistan’s tour to India, he scored his maiden century, scoring 141 by 191 balls. Afridi was banned for a Test match and two ODIs cause of a damaging pitch in the second match of the three-Test series against England in November 2005. To concentrate on ODIs especially focus on the World Cup 2007, Afridi declared a temporary retirement from Test cricket on 12 April 2006.
Afridi received the Man of the Series award in the 2007 World Twenty20 Cup and played brilliantly with the ball and poorly with the bat. However, in the 2009 World Twenty20 Cup, Afridi showed his terrific performance brilliantly in the series scoring 50 runs in the semi-final and 54 in the final and leading his team to victory.
On 25 May 2010, Afridi was selected as a captain of the national team in all three formats, after he announced his return to Test cricket. Now, Afridi retired from Test and ODI cricket although it has continued T20 format cricket.
