He shot to fame in 2008 with his debut solo album Danpitey, which he wrote, composed and performed entirely himself. Known for hits like “Jhoom” and “Keu Kotha Rakheni”, Minar is also a lyricist, writer and cartoonist, making him one of the most versatile artistes of his generation.

Minar Rahman was born on December 26, 1992, in Chittagong, Bangladesh. His father, M. Azharul Islam, is a banker, and his mother, Nilufar Islam, is a homemaker. He was drawn to music from an early age, inspired largely by his father. He studied at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in Dhaka. Along with music, he also cultivated a passion for drawing and cartoons as a young boy.

Minar began his music career in 2008 with his self-composed debut album Danpitey, which he wrote, composed and performed entirely on his own. He gained wider recognition with the song “Shada”, whose music was arranged by famous singer-songwriter Tahsan Khan. His second solo album Aari followed in 2011, and his third album Aha Re was released in 2015. He also appeared on mixed albums such as The Hit Album 4 (2013).
In 2016, Minar delivered a string of hit singles and albums including Duur Theke, “Poth” and “Jhoom”. His song “Jhoom” crossed 40 million views on YouTube and became one of the most-viewed Bangladeshi songs on the platform. In 2020, he released “Keu Kotha Rakheni”, which went on to become his biggest hit, crossing 100 million views by August 2026. He also lent his voice to the song “Eka Din” for the 2018 Indian Bengali film Fidaa.
