Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic is a popular political leader, diplomat and current president of Croatia since 2015. She is ever the most beautiful female president in the world. Kolinda is an extremely football lover who frequently appears in the stadium to support her country team. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic was born on April 29, 1968, in Rijeka, Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia. Her father name is Branko Grabar and mother is Dubravka Grabar. She grew up in her parent’s village. She was so much a talented woman from early childhood. Kolinda moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico at her 17 years old. She completed her graduation from Los Alamos High School in 1986.
Then she returned to Yugoslavia and enrolled at the University of Zagreb in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences where she received Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish languages and literature in 1993. In 2000, she also received a master’s degree in international relations. Kolinda also attended the Diploma Course at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic Career:
Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic kicked off her career journey being an advisor of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1992. Following a year in 1993, she joined the conservative political party Croatian Democratic Union. In 1997, she started working journey at the Croatian embassy in Canada as a diplomatic councilor.
In 2000, Social Democratic Party of Croatia assumed the power in the 2000 elections and she was ordered to return to Croatia by the new government. But she was pregnant and planned to give birth in Canada. During her stay in the hospital, she applied for a Fulbright scholarship at the George Washington University eventually moved to the United States. After completing education, she moved to Croatia.
In 2003, parliamentary elections, she was elected parliament member as a member of the Croatian Democratic Union and became the Minister of European integration. In 2007, again she was appointed as Foreign Minister. Kolinda was appointed as the Croatian Ambassador to the United States with President Stjepan Mesić’s help in 2008.
However, a scandal broke out in 2010 that her husband Jakov Kitarovic used embassy car for personal purpose. In 2014, she took part in the 2014–15 Croatian presidential election for the political party Croatian Democratic Union. She won the election getting 50.7% vote in the second phase of the elections and became the first female President of the country.
Personal Life:
Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic married Jakov Kitarovic in 1996. Together the couple has a daughter named Katarina Kitarovic and a son Luka Kitarovic. Her daughter Katarina is a professional figure skater and Croatia’s national junior champion.
