Sophie Gregoire was born on April 24, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, to parents Estelle Blais and Jean Grégoire. Her father Jean Grégoire is a stockbroker where her mother Estelle Blais is a Franco-Ontarian nurse. She was raised in Montreal’s Mount Royal suburb, where she was a classmate of her future brother-in-law Michel Trudeau, the younger brother of Justin Trudeau. She was a good student and loved sports and the outdoors.
Sophie Gregoire studied at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Then she enrolled at McGill University. Finally, she recieved a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the Université de Montréal.

Sophie Gregoire kicked off her career journey as a receptionist and assistant at an advertising firm. In 2005, she joined the CTV Television Networks and worked as a reporter for eTalk, a CTV’s news show.
