Olga Ladyzhenskaya was a famous Russian mathematician also known as her full name Olga Aleksandrovna Ladyzhenskaya. She is widely notable for her work on fluid dynamics, partial differential equations, and the finite difference method for the Navier–Stokes equations. She wrote more than two hundred scientific books and won the Lomonosov Gold Medal in 2002.

Olga Ladyzhenskaya was born on March 7, 1922, in Saint Petersburg, Russia to parents Aleksandr Ladyzhenski and Anna Mikhailovna. Being a school teacher’s daughter, she was so much passionate about mathematics in early life.

Olga Ladyzhenskaya did her basic education in 1939. She studied at the pedagogical institute after the German invasion. In 1943, she enrolled at Moscow State University and graduated in 1947. Then she studied at Olga Ladyzhenskaya and received her Ph.D. In 1954, she received her second Ph.D. from Moscow State University.
