Sonalee Kulkarni was born on May 18, 1988, in Pune, India to Manohar and Savinder Kulkarni both of them are retired army officers. She attended the Army School Kendriya Vidyalaya and the Ferguson College, Pune. The actress completed her bachelor degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Indira School of Communication, Pune. Sonalee started practicing dance from the age of five and trained as a Bharatnatyam dancer during her school years. She can fluently speak in Hindi, English, Marathi and Punjabi.

Sonalee Kulkarni started her career with a beauty contest in her college that helped her to enter into the films and also advertisements. After working as a model in early career, she made her debut in Marathi film with Kedar Shinde’s ‘Bakula Namdev Ghotale’ as Bakula for which Sonalee received the ‘Zee Gaurav Award’ for best actress in 2007. Then the actress appeared in a few movies as minor characters.
Her real breakthrough came in 2010 when she acted in Marathi film ‘Nararang’ directed by Ravi Jadhav where her dance performance was exceptionally splendid.
