Rimi Sen was born as Subhamitra Sen on September 21, 1981, in West Bengal, India. She was admitted into Bidya Bharati Girls’ High School from where she completed her schooling. Later Rimi completed her graduation degree in Commerce from the University of Calcutta. She has a great passion for acting from her early childhood and wanted to be an actress.

After completing her graduation, Rimi Sen shifted to Mumbai with her mother to pursue an acting career. There she did several commercial advertisements including ‘Coca Cola’ with Aamir Khan. Rimi was instantly noticed by the producers and offered to act with them. The actress made her film debut with Bengali movie ‘Paromitar Ek Din’ directed by Aparna Sen in 2000. In the movie, she played a supporting role along with Rituparna Sengupta, Aparna Sen, and Soumitra Chatterjee.
Rimi Sen kicked off her career journey in Telugu film with ‘Nee Thodu Kavali’ directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa in 2002. In the film, she starred with Arjan Bajwa and Charmi in the lead roles and her mind blowing performance was appreciated. After becoming successful in the movie, the actress presented another super hit movie ‘Andarivaadu’.
Rimi Sen entered into Bollywood with comedy film ‘Hungama’ in 2003 where she played one of the lead roles along with Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani, and Akshay Khanna. In 2004, she appeared in super hit movie ‘Dhoom’. Then the actress starred in ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘Hattrick’ and ‘Shagird’. Rimi Sen produced a Hindi movie ‘Budhia Singh-Born to Run’ in 2016.
