Shreya Ghoshal Early Life:
The amazing singer Shreya Ghoshal was born on March 12, 1984, in Berhampore, West Bengal, India to Bishwajit Ghoshal, an electrical engineer and works for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India and Sarmistha Ghoshal, a post-graduate literature. She has one sweet younger brother named Soumyadeep Ghoshal. In 1997, her father shifted to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Mumbai.
Daisy joined the Atomic Energy Junior College to study science but discontinued and enrolled at the Sies College of Arts where she took arts with English as her major subject. When Shreya was 6 years old, she was trained in Hindustan Classical Gharana of music and she training in playback singing for about eighteen months and continued her classical music training in Mumbai.
Shreya Ghoshal Career:
Shreya Ghoshal started her career with a Bengali album ‘Bendhechhi’ in 1998. After that album, she released several popular albums including ‘O Tota Pakhi Re’, ‘Ekti Katha, ‘Mukhor Porag’ and ‘Rupasi Raate’. Shreya also recorded devotional songs in albums ‘Banomali Re’ and ‘Krishna Bina Ache Ke’.
Shreya’s talent was first recognized by famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in the 75th Children Special Episode of Sa Re Ga Ma. Banshali’s mother was watching the show and was stunned with her excellent performance. In 2000, Banshani and music director Ismail Darbar offered her to be the voice of Paro, the leading female character of famous movie ‘Devdas’ portrayed by heartthrob actress Aishwarya Rai. So Ghoshal made her film debut with the song ‘Bairi Piya’ with Udit Narayan at the age of only sixteen.
She sang five popular songs in the film, namely, ‘Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka’, ‘Bairi Piya’, ‘Chalak Chalak’, ‘Morey Piya’, and ‘Dola Re Dola’, with established singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod, KK, and Jaspinder Narula. Her all songs especially ‘Bairi Piya’ and ‘Dola Re’ got instantly much popularity. The film Devdas’ brought her first ‘Filmfare Award’ for Best Female Playback Singer for ‘Dola Re’, ‘National Film Award’ for Best Female Playback Singer for ‘Bairi Piya’ and the ‘Filmfare RD Burman Award’ for New Music Talent.
Since Shreya has presented many hit songs to her fans and also sung for several films mentioning too, ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’, ‘Shart: The Challenge’, ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’, ‘Julie Ganapathi’, ‘Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum’ and ‘Desh Devi Maa Ashapura’.
