He admitted to Tangail Bindubashini Government High School and studied up to class two. Then Selim comes to Dhaka, in the city he admitted to Motijheel Ideal School and completed SSC from the School. He studied at Jahangirnagar University; during university life, he joined Dhaka Theatre in 1983.

Shahiduzzaman Selim made his debut in the media arena with the television drama ‘Jonaki Jwole’ in 1989. Then he acted in lots of television dramas including Lilaboti directed by Humayun Ahmed, Pother Dabi based on the novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Selim also directed many dramas and telefilms in the showbiz arena of Bangladesh.
He is a pioneer in the sector of the digital film arena who made four digital films in the country including Mixed Culture, Abinashi Shabdorashi, Ekjon Ajmal Hossain, and Chicago Hridoy. Selim directed a detective popular television drama ‘DB’ in 2012. In his glorious acting career, Selim won the National Film Awards and Meril Prothom Alo Awards.
