Swara Bhaskar was born on April 9, 1988, in Delhi, India to a Telugu family. Her father Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar is a Naval Officer and her mother Ira Bhaskar is a professor of cinema studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and graduated in English literature from Delhi University. The actress received her master’s degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
Swara Bhaskar Career:
Swara Bhaskar made her film debut playing a supporting role in drama film ‘Madholal Keep Walking’ in 2009 which was the commercial failure. She got attention for playing supporting role of a bride-to-be in the commercially successful romantic comedy movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ which was released in 2011. Her brilliant performance in the film was well received by critics as well as audiences for which she won ‘Filmfare Award’ for Best Supporting Actress.
She received widespread appreciation for portraying an aggressive lover character in the critically acclaimed romantic drama film ‘Raanjhanaa’ in with Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in 2013. She again showed off talent in that film for which she got her second ‘Filmfare Award’ for Best Supporting Actress.
Swara Bhaskar then played supporting roles in director Anand L. Rai’s romantic comedy ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ along with Kangana Ranaut, R. Madhavan and Jimmy Shergill in 2015. She also appeared in the romantic drama ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ directed by with Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in 2015 and both the movies were top grossing Bollywood films.
Her first major starring role came with the comedy drama ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ directed by Ashwini Lyer in 2016. In the movie, she performed alongside Ria Shukla, Ratna Pathak as well as Pankaj Tripathi and she received critical acclaim for her exceptional performance.
