Hasleen did her schooling from Delhi Public School and later graduated in English from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. She also took a degree in Mass Communication from Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi.

Hasleen Kaur made her film debut with Imtiaz Ali’s Bollywood film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ in which she played a minor role along with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in 2009. Later she was offered to play the lead role in the movie ‘Chanda’ but Hasleen refused to do it. Because Hasleen was then concentrating on her studies.
Hasleen Kaur appeared in her first lead role in the romantic movie ‘Karle Pyar Karle’ directed by Rajesh Pandey in 2014. In the movie, she starred as Preet with Shiv Darshan and Aham Sharma but her appearance was highly criticized for shooting in several open scenes.
