Jiah Khan was born on February 20, 1988, in New York, USA. to Ali Rizvi Khan who is an Indian American and Rabiya Amin who was a Hindi film actress. Her father left their family when she was only two and never came back. Former Pakistani actresses Sangeeta and Kaveeta are her paternal aunts. Jiah has two younger sisters named Kavita and Karishma.
She brought up in London where she completed Edexcel O level and A level. Then Jiah moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. She greatly inspired to enter into acting after watching director Ram Gopal Verma’s movie ‘Rangeela’ in which Urmila Matondkar starred in the lead role.

Jiah Khan made her film debut with director Ram Gopal Verma’s drama film ‘Nishabd’ where she played the most leading role Jia with Amitabh Bachchan and Aftab Shivdasani in 2007. She nominated for ‘Filmfare Award’ for Best Female Debut for showing off a brilliant performance in the movie.
Later Jiah featured for portraying a modern and independent woman in ‘Gahjini’ directed by A.R. Murugadoss in 2008. Her performance was highly appreciated by cinema critics and the movie became the highest grossing Bollywood film of that year.
In 2010, Jiah last appeared in director Sajid Khan’s romantic comedy film ‘Housefull’ where she played the role Devika Awasti along with Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal and it was recorded as the fifth highest grossing Bollywood film of the year.
On July 3, 2013, Jiah was found dead hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom at the Sagar Sangeet Building, Mumbai. Initially suspected that she had committed suicide but later her mother claimed that Jiah was murdered by her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi. Her mother filed a case against Sooraj Pancholi and the investigation is ongoing with the CBI leading the charge.
