Soni Razdan was born on October 25, 1956, in Birmingham UK to Gertrude Hoelzer, a German and N. Razdan, a Hindu Kashmiri Pandit. She attended acting school in London and then moved to India to pursue the acting career. Actually, the actress had a great passion for acting from her early childhood.
Soni Razdan Carrera:
Soni Razdan started her career in English theater with director John Fowler’s play The Collector. She made her Bollywood debut with the movie ‘36 Chowringhee Lane’ directed by Aparna Sen and produced by Shashi Kapoor in 1981. It was Sen’s first directorial movie who was a famous leading actress of Bengali cinema. Soni played a supporting role while Jennifer Kendal in a critically acclaimed role along with Dhritiman Chatterjee.
In 1998, the actress appeared in an Indo-Canadian English film ‘Such a Long Journey’ directed by Sturla Gunnarsson which was based on the novel ‘Same Name’ written by Rohinton Mistry. Soni played the leading role with Roshan Seth and the movie was screened at the ‘Toronto International Film Festival’. The movie became a super hit and received twelve ‘Genie Awards’ nominations including the ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Actor’ categories.
Soni Razdan starred in Sahil Sangha’s Hindi romantic film ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ produced by Zayed Khan under the banner of Born Free Entertainment and Sahara Motion Pictures in 2011. It stars Zayed Khan and Dia Mirza in the lead roles while Soni played an important supporting role.
