She made a terrific acting performance as a child artist in the musical movie ‘Hamraaz’ in 1967 where Sunil Dutt and Raaj Kumar landed the main role. Following the year, she appeared in the movie ‘Aashirwad’.
The beautiful actress left the showbiz industry when she married Indian film actor Kamal Haasan. she gave birth a daughter Shruti Hassan who is also a popular actress in the Bollywood film industry. After divorce with husband, Sarika Thakur came back again in the film industry with the supernatural movie ‘Sacred Evil – A True Story’ that was box office fail.
Sarika won the National Film Award for best custom design in the movie ‘Hey Ram’. She made a terrific acting performance in the movie ‘Parzania’ with Naseeruddin Shah in 2005, the movie was a box office hit eventually the actress won the National Film Award in best actress category. Sarika Thakur married Indian film actor Kamal Haasan in 1988 who previously married Vani Ganpati. Kamal divorced the first wife in 1988 and married the actress but they called it over in 2004. Sarika has a daughter named Shruti Hassan who is also an actress.
