Sakshi Tanwar was born on January 12, 1973, in Rajasthan, India to a middle-class family. Her father Rajendra Singh Tanwar was a CBI officer. Sakshi has an elder brother and sister. She was so much passionate about media arena from early childhood as well was the president of the dramatic society during college days. Sakshi studied at Kendriya Vidyalayas. Then she enrolled at Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi and graduated from the college. After completing education, she aspired to the entrance to the administrative service.

After completing the study, Sakshi Tanwar auditioned for the national broadcaster Doordarshan’s film. She made her acting debut with the serial Dastoor in 1996. Sakshi selected and her media journey began. Then she appeared in the Hindi language soap opera ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’ for the lead role which aired on Star Plus and well known for the character ‘Parvati’. She showed off a terrific performance in the television serial and got the positive reviews from the critics.
