Gauhar Khan was born on August 23, 1983, in Pune, India into a Muslim family. She has done her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent School, lullanagar, Pune. Gauhar received her bachelor degree from Ness Wadia Collge of Commerce, Pune. She is the youngest of six siblings while one of her sister named Nigaar Khan is also an actress.

Gauhar Khan participated in ‘Femina Miss India Contest’ in 2002 where she secured fourth place. Then she did many commercial advertisements of renowned brands like ‘Ford Ikon’, ‘Opel Car’ and ‘Bajaj Auto’. The actress made her film debut with director Shimit Amin’s comedy film ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ with Ranbir Kapoor and D. Santosh in 2009. The movie was a failure at the box office.
In 2011, Gauhar appeared as outspoken and rebellious Samara Shroff in the action thriller film ‘Game’ directed by Abhinay Deo along with Abhishek Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut. Then she played the role Chand Bibi in the 2012 romantic drama film ‘Ishaqzaade’ in which the actress also did two item songs ‘Jhalla Walla’ and ‘Chokra Jawaan’. Gauhar was last seen to play the lead character Pooja Warrier against Rajeev Khandelwai in suspense thriller movie ‘Fever’ in 2016. Recently, she is filming another Hindi movie ‘Begum Jaan’ that will be released worldwide in 2017.
