Shilpa Shirodkar was born on November 20, 1969, in Mumbai, India into a moderate Marathi family. She is the granddaughter of prominent Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar. Her younger sister Namrata Shirodkar crowned ‘Miss India’ in 1993 who has married to actor Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni. Shilpa received her education in Mumbai.

The famous actress Shilpa Shirodkar made her film debut with director Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Bhrashtachar’ 1989 in with Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha in which she played the role of a blind girl for which she got much appreciation from critics as well as audiences. In 1990, Shilpa starred opposite Anil Kapoor in the hit movie ‘Kishen Kanhaiya’ directed by Rakesh Roshan.
The actress appeared in several other hit films including ‘Khuda Gawah’, ‘Gopi Kishan’ and ‘Mrityudand’. She was last seen in the movie ‘Gaja Gamini’ which was released in 2000. Shilpa was nominated for ‘Filmfare Award’ in Best Supporting Actress category for ‘Khuda Gawah’.
