Abraham Lincoln is one of the greatest heroes and was the 16th President of the United State. Lincoln had led his country into a critical situation. He served the United State from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln was reared in a poor family and was mostly self-educated. He became a lawyer and Whig Party leader. He is widely well-known for removing slavery.

Early Life:

Abraham Lincoln was born on 12 February 1809, to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Lincoln. The family moved north across the Ohio River to persuade of happiness. His mother Nancy Lincoln died in 1818 cause of milk sickness at Lincoln’s nine years old.  Thomas Lincoln remarried in 1919, the widow of Sarah Bush Johnston who was the mother of three children. Lincoln’s relationship was very good with his stepmother, and referred to Sarah as “Mother”. Although both of his parents were mostly illiterate, Sarah encouraged Lincoln to study. But Lincoln could not finish any institutional education.

Career:

During the Civil War, his involvement is a great issue, and for this reason, the world will not forget him. He quoted at the time of the Civil War: “that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain–that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom–and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

John Wilkes Booth a well-known actor and a Confederate spy from Maryland assassinated Lincoln on 14 April 1965 at Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C.  The cause of Lincoln’s assassination, he wanted to promote voting rights for blacks. John Wilkes Booth somehow thought he was helping the South. With Lincoln’s death, the possibility of peace died.
